OPÉ wants to meet the whole world and change it through fashion. If it were really possible, that is.

A self-taught artist, Opé has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. Opé hails from St. Louis, MO. born to Nigerian parents was able to see Nigeria for the first time as a teenager. Surviving a huge culture shock at the time, it tempered the way she sees a colorful world around her. She has sold her paintings to people who have enjoyed her work immensely.

Seeing herself as an artist first and foremost, Opé views fashion styling as another medium to extend her artistry to the canvas of real life.

Opé has worked for designer Betsey Johnson for a number of years. She considers Ms. Johnson an early influence but sites designers Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood as inspirations. Although she enjoys artsy high fashion, she has also had experience with brands like J. Crew and BCBG that lend to her ability to be flexible with various style demands from commercial to avant garde editorials.

Style heroes for Opé are Grace Coddington, Rachel Zoe, and Jay Manuel. If Opé could be the next anyone, it would be one of those distinguished people or a pleasant combination of all three. However, she will settle for being the next Opé.

When beginning work on a project, Opé issues the following caution: "When cut, I bleed fashion..."

Opé is currently located in New York and travels to Washington, DC for assignments as well.
